ABB Robotics<\/a> is integrating tech giant Nvidia Corp<\/a>.\u2019s Omniverse<\/a> libraries into its RobotStudio software \u201cto help manufacturers deploy physical AI in real-world robotics applications,\u201d ABB announced<\/a> Monday.<\/p>\n

A new joint platform called RobotStudio HyperReality will allow developers to accurately simulate robots within digital twins and then generate synthetic data that can be used to train physical-AI models.<\/p>\n

The goal of the partnership is to close the persistent \u201csim-to-real\u201d gap, or \u201cthe long-standing deficit between simulation accuracy and real-world lighting, materials and environments,\u201d ABB said.<\/p>\n

RobotStudio HyperReality is currently being tested with select customers before becoming available to ABB Robotics\u2019 60,000 global RobotStudio users in the latter half of 2026, the company said.<\/p>\n

One such test customer is major Taiwanese electronics contract manufacturer Foxconn<\/a>, which is employing the platform to virtually train its assembly robots in real-world production processes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe industrial sector needs physically accurate simulation to bridge the gap between virtual training and the real-world deployment of AI-driven robotics at scale,\u201d Deepu Talla, vice president of robotics and edge AI at Nvidia, said in a statement. \u201cIntegrating Nvidia Omniverse libraries into RobotStudio brings advanced simulation and accelerated computing to ABB Robotics\u2019 unique virtual-controller technology.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a virtual press conference Monday morning, ABB Robotics President Marc Segura was asked if the partnership with Nvidia was connected to SoftBank Group Corp<\/a>.\u2019s recent $5.4-billion purchase<\/a> of the robotics division. Segura said there wasn\u2019t a direct connection but that both milestones signified a larger strategic push to merge robotics with AI.<\/p>\n
