{"id":30296,"date":"2026-03-12T00:56:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-12T00:56:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/30296\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T00:56:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T00:56:09","slug":"fg-commends-nestle-for-good-industrial-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/30296\/","title":{"rendered":"FG Commends Nestl\u00e9 for Good &#038; Industrial Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Federal Government has formally commended Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria Plc for its consistent contribution to the country\u2019s socio-economic landscape, noting that the company\u2019s operational model serves as a blueprint for sustainable industrial development.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The commendation was delivered by the Director of the Department of Industrial Development at the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Mr Mohammed Bala, during the official media launch of the \u2018Nestl\u00e9 for Good\u2019 campaign in Lagos.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking on behalf of the Ministry, through Mrs Esther Popoola, Bala emphasised that Nestl\u00e9\u2019s initiatives are in lockstep with the government\u2019s vision for a private-sector-led economic transformation.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe campaign reflects responsible business practices that align with the Federal Government\u2019s agenda for sustainable industrial development. Nigeria\u2019s industrial transformation agenda recognises the private sector as a key driver of innovation, productivity, and job creation,\u201d Bala stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He further noted that long-standing corporate citizens play a disproportionate role in stabilising the local economy through domestic sourcing and capacity building, adding, \u201cCompanies like Nestl\u00e9 have maintained a long-standing presence in Nigeria and continue to demonstrate how responsible investment can contribute to local sourcing, operational skills development, and a safe, supportive work environment. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Initiatives such as \u2018Nestl\u00e9 for Good\u2019 align closely with national priorities by investing in sustainable sourcing and empowering local farmers and entrepreneurs.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Responding to the government\u2019s endorsement, the Managing Director of Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria, Mr Wassim Elhusseini, remarked that the company\u2019s scale necessitates a higher level of social and environmental accountability, arguing that profit and social progress are interconnected. \u201cWhen a company operates at scale, when it reaches millions of people every day, it must hold itself to a higher standard. It must be accountable not only for its products but also for the broader impact it has on society, communities, and the environment. Economic performance and social progress are not competing priorities; they are interconnected. Creating shared value is not a programme but the way we do business\u201d, Elhusseini said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The campaign is built on three specific pillars: nutrition, thriving communities, and protection of the planet. According to Nestl\u00e9\u2019s Corporate Communications, Public Affairs and Sustainability Lead, Victoria Uwadoka, the environmental component is the bedrock of all other corporate efforts. \u201cIf we do not protect the planet, then there is no point to everything else we are doing. We are committed to protecting the environment to ensure it continues to support future generations. Nestl\u00e9 for Good brings together the many ways Nestl\u00e9 contributes to improving lives across Nigeria through better nutrition, stronger communities, and responsible environmental stewardship,\u201d Uwadoka explained.\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The launch also received technical backing from the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, represented by nutrition specialist Mrs Amaka Okwesilieze, who called for a united front to tackle malnutrition through continued collaboration. \u201cThe NSN will continue to work with Nestl\u00e9 Nigeria to achieve shared goals of improving nutrition and promoting healthy diets across the country.
