As we head into Day 3 of free agency, the San Francisco 49ers have added a pair of backup offensive linemen. One might compete<\/a> for the starting spot at left guard, while the other is a \u201cjust in case<\/a>\u201d at left tackle for Trent Williams. The splash signing<\/a> of Mike Evans at wide receiver gives the team some flexibility heading into the NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s telling that some of the 49ers\u2019 free agents, like Jauan Jennings and Brian Robinson Jr., haven\u2019t inked deals yet. Those are the kinds of players that usually sign on Wednesday or Thursday after the first initial wave has passed.<\/p>\n

Today is the day the 49ers will likely part ways with Brandon Aiyuk, likely tender their restricted free agents, and look to find an interior pass rusher, perhaps from the Dallas Cowboys<\/a>.<\/p>\n

So far, Trey Hendrickson has signed with the Ravens after the Maxx Crosby debacle. Hendrickson\u2019s deal is for 4 years and $112 million. We\u2019ll see how busy Wednesday is in free agency.<\/p>\n

Kyle\u2019s update, 8:40 a.m. PT: Daniel Jones, who is expected to be ready by the start of the season, received a two-year, $88 million deal to return to the Colts. Danny Dimes received $50 million in Year 1 of the deal.<\/p>\n

Kyle\u2019s update, 11:40 a.m. PT: Former Bears safety Kevin Byard is headed to the New England Patriots. Byard reunited with Mike Vrabel after playing for him for six seasons with the Titans.<\/p>\n

Kyle\u2019s update, 12:01 p.m. PT: The Niners are re-signing a running back, but it\u2019s not Brian Robinson Jr. According to Equity Sports<\/a>, the 49ers re-signed running back Patrick Taylor Jr.<\/p>\n

Taylor Jr., who turns 28 in April, landed on the Injured Reserve after hurting his shoulder in August. He becomes the fourth running back on the roster, after Christian McCaffrey, Jordan James, and Isaac Guerendo.<\/p>\n

Taylor Jr. played 292 snaps in 2024, with 172 of those coming on offense. The 49ers also moved Taylor Jr. around the formation, which is a sign they liked his versatility. It also helps that he contributed on special teams. Taylor Jr. played 120 snaps spread out through each of the four coverage teams.<\/p>\n

Kyle\u2019s update, 12:15 p.m. PT: A couple of safeties just signed deals. Former Patriots safety and Raheem Morris draft pick, Jaylinn Hawkins, signed a two-year deal with the Ravens for $10 million.<\/p>\n

Safety Nick Cross signed a deal with the Commanders worth up to $14 million.<\/p>\n

Tight end Chig Okonkowo agreed to a three-year deal to join Washington. That contract is worth up to $30 million.<\/p>\n

Kyle\u2019s update, 12:42 p.m. PT: The Vikings are releasing former 49ers defensive tackle Javon Hargrave. This comes a season after the Vikings signed Hargrave to a two-year contract worth $30 million, including $17 million guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Azeez Ojulari is signing a one-year deal to join the Falcons.<\/p>\n

Kyle\u2019s update, 1:32 p.m. PT: Bradley Chubb agreed to a three-year deal worth $45-million with the Buffalo Bills. Good luck with that one. Chubb can earn up to $52.5 million.<\/p>\n
