Let\u2019s be honest, it\u2019s not a fair fight. Can we really compare the Buffalo Bills to the Miami Dolphins? I think everyone knows the answer to that question, but the Bills dealt a tough blow to their divisional rivals by signing Bradley Chubb. It was a necessary and critical move for the Bills as they look to make up for what was a disappointing and troubling end to their 2025 season.<\/p>\n

With both Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson out of the way, the path was supposed to be clear. At the beginning of the postseason, it seemed as it were a foregone conclusion that we\u2019d be seeing Allen and the Bills representing the AFC in the Super Bowl. That obviously didn\u2019t happen, so instead a reset and reboot were necessary.<\/p>\n

We can\u2019t get too crazy, though, as Josh Allen is still under center and handing the ball off to James Cook. As long as Allen is leading the huddle, the Bills are championship contenders. But help was needed. For better or worse, Sean McDermott is out as head coach. The other notable move was bringing in DJ Moore. In Moore, Allen now has a legitimate weapon to target downfield. But that\u2019s only half the game.<\/p>\n

The Impact Of Adding Chubb:<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also important, and necessary, to get to the quarterback. That means fortifying the defensive line. Having Ed Oliver, Greg Rousseau, and Michael Hoecht in the rotation of pass rushers is a pretty strong start. However, they also come with injury concerns, and you can never have enough players who can wreak havoc on opposing offensive lines.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s what made the signing of Chubb so critical. His track record precedes him, and Chubb bounced back well from missing the 2024 season with a torn ACL. Last year, he had 8.5 sacks, and he figures to be even better this year, given the talent he will be surrounded by.<\/p>\n
