Valmir Matoshi (22 years old) is one of the faces of Thun’s meteoric rise. Despite strong performances, he has yet to hear anything from Murat Yakin.<\/p>\n

The championship title for FC Thun is getting closer and closer and seems to be just a formality. The Bernese Oberland team only needs four more wins in the remaining eight games to secure the title. <\/p>\n

However, if their only remaining rival, St Gallen, drops points, Thun could celebrate even before the league splits in early April.<\/p>\n

With Ethan Meichtry (20) and Valmir Matoshi (22), the sensational leaders of the Swiss Super League have two true homegrown talents from Thun as regular starters. Matoshi, in particular, was born in Thun and has been with the team since U11 level. The club’s recent historic success is therefore all the more special for him.<\/p>\n

“It’s unbelievable and almost impossible to put into words,” Matoshi initially said of 20 Minutes<\/a> after Thun’s 5-1 victory against Grasshoppers. <\/p>\n

“I’ve been with the club for 12 years now, it means a lot to me,” he added, without explicitly mentioning the championship title.<\/p>\n

“No, I haven’t heard anything yet,” Matoshi replied when asked if Yakin had already called him. The former Switzerland U21 player stressed that he wanted to keep his options open regarding playing for Switzerland or Kosovo. <\/p>\n

But no one from Kosovo had contacted him, said Matoshi, who had already attracted the attention of Juventus Turin while playing in the Challenge League.<\/p>\n
