A traumatic brain injury conference will take place next week at Columbia University\u2019s Kraft Center, bringing together medical and academic groups to discuss research and patient experiences.<\/p>\n

National concussion awareness advocate and Geneva resident Ray Ciancaglini will serve as one of three keynote speakers at the event hosted by Columbia Synapse slated for March 27.<\/p>\n

The conference, titled \u201cCrossroads in Traumatic Brain Injury,\u201d will include participants from institutions such as New York University and Rutgers University, along with student organizations from several universities.<\/p>\n

Organizers said the event will focus on prevention, care and support for people affected by traumatic brain injury, while also highlighting the experiences of survivors.<\/p>\n

Ciancaglini\u2019s keynote, \u201cFrom Punches to Prevention,\u201d will address second impact syndrome and long-term neurological conditions, including Parkinson\u2019s disease and dementia. His talk will also focus on resilience and lifestyle factors for patients and caregivers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis conference represents an important opportunity to connect lived experience with cutting-edge research,\u201d said Ciancaglini. \u201cBy sharing knowledge and personal stories, we can help prevent future injuries and improve the quality of life for those already affected.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event will include panel discussions, networking opportunities and both in-person and virtual attendance options.<\/p>\n

Ciancaglini is also scheduled to hold a book signing following his keynote.<\/p>\n
