At Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL)<\/a> and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM), airlines are responding quickly to shifting passenger flows. Zurich Airport (ZRH) and London Heathrow Airport (LHR)<\/a> will see increased connectivity with India as European carriers expand capacity.<\/p>\n

British Airways and SWISS India Flights<\/p>\n

Foreign airlines are rapidly expanding their operations in India to fill the gap left by limited services from Gulf carriers. With fewer flights available from key transit hubs in the Middle East, passengers are shifting toward direct, nonstop options.<\/p>\n

SWISS confirmed it will operate a second daily flight between Delhi and Zurich from April 1 to May 31, 2026. The additional service will use an Airbus A330 and aims to cater to rising demand for direct connectivity between India and Europe.<\/p>\n

The airline noted that many passengers have been unable to travel via their originally booked Gulf routes. This shift has led to a noticeable increase in demand for direct long-haul services linking India with Western destinations.<\/p>\n

British Airways Expansion into India<\/p>\n

British Airways is also scaling up operations in response to the ongoing situation. The airline will introduce a third daily service from Delhi starting April 7, followed by a third daily frequency from Mumbai beginning May 15, reported Times of India<\/a>.<\/p>\n

With these additions, British Airways will operate up to 63 weekly flights between India and the United Kingdom. The expansion will add more than 1,000 seats per week, offering increased flexibility for passengers traveling to the UK or connecting onward.<\/p>\n

The airline emphasized that India remains a critical market within its global network. The additional capacity reflects strong passenger demand and a strategic reallocation of resources amid changing travel patterns.<\/p>\n

SWISS stated it will continue monitoring the situation and adjust capacity based on demand, operational limitations, and regulatory factors. These include airport slot availability, traffic rights, and fleet deployment constraints.<\/p>\n
