<\/p>\nGermany will be playing a friendly match against Switzerland today at St. Jakob Park in Basel, Switzerland.<\/p>\n
Both national teams qualfied to the 2026 World Cup by topping their respective UEFA World Cup qualification groups.<\/p>\n
Switzerland was in Group B of the qualifiers with Slovenia, Kosovo, and Sweden. Switzerland finished first with 14 points and was unbeaten after six qualifying matches.<\/p>\n
Their previous match was a 1-1 draw with Kosovo away from home.<\/p>\n
Germany topped Group A of the qualifiers with 15 points and only three points above second-place Slovakia. The group consisted of Germany, Slovakia, Northern Ireland, and Luxembourg.<\/p>\n
After losing their first game of the qualifiers, Germany won the following five qualifying games to top the group. Their last qualifying match was a 6-0 home win over Slovakia, with goals from Nick Woltemade, Serge Gnabry, Ridle Baku, Forzan Assan Ouedraogo, and two goals from Leroy Sane.<\/p>\n
