The all-star team of Brooks Koepka and Shane Lowry has committed to play the upcoming Zurich Classic<\/a>, tournament officials announced Monday.<\/p>\n

Koepka, a five-time major winner, will be making his first appearance in the New Orleans PGA event since 2019. In his first year back on the PGA Tour since returning from a three-plus-year run with the LIV Golf tour, he is ranked No. 162 in the latest World Golf Rankings.<\/p>\n

Lowry, who paired with Rory McIlroy to win the 2024 Zurich<\/a>, is ranked No. 32 in the world after his 28th place finish at the Texas Children\u2019s Open this past weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis should be a most powerful team,\u201d said Seve Worthy, the CEO of the Fore!Kids Foundation, which operates the tournament for the PGA Tour. \u201cBoth of these players have won major titles, and both have extensive experience in major international team competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Koepka is the first major player to return to the PGA Tour after leaving to play LIV. As part of his conditions to return through the returning member program, he reportedly had to make a $5 million charitable donation, forfeit 2026 FedEx Cup bonus eligibility and forgo player equity shares for five years. While ineligible for sponsor exemptions into 2026 signature events, he is required to earn his way into those fields through play in full-field PGA Tour events like the Zurich.<\/p>\n

So far this season, he has tied for ninth in the Cognizant Classic, tied for 13th in The Players Championship and tied for 18th in the Valspar Championship, after reaching fifth during the third round of play.<\/p>\n

He teamed with his brother Chase, to tie for fifth in the 2017 Zurich Classic, the first year the tournament adopted the team format.<\/p>\n

He has won the PGA Championship three times and the U.S. Open twice among his nine PGA Tour titles. He ranked number one in the world for 47 weeks from October 2018 to February 2020.<\/p>\n

He played on four U.S. Ryder Cup teams and one Presidents Cup squad. In 15 Ryder Cup matches, he has posted a record of 7-6-2, ranking 18th on the all-time American points list.<\/p>\n

This will be Lowry\u2019s seventh appearance at the Zurich.<\/p>\n

Lowry\u2019s best performance this year came at the Cognizant Classic in Palm Beach, Fla., where he finished tied for second after leading the tournament with three holes to play. He also tied for eighth in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he finished second in 2025.<\/p>\n

Lowry has extensive experience in team play like the Zurich, which will be played April 23-26 at the TPC of Louisiana. The 38-year-old Irishman has played for Europe on the last three Ryder Cup teams. He sank the putt that clinched the 2025 Ryder Cup for the European team at Bethpage Black last September.<\/p>\n

He won The Open Championship in 2019 at Royal Portrush Golf Club by firing a course-record 63 in the third round to win by six shots over Tommy Fleetwood. He has won seven other titles, four on the DP World Tour and the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in 2015 that earned him his PGA Tour card.<\/p>\n

In addition to his title in The Open Championship, Lowry has posted a tie for third in the Masters, a tie for fourth in the PGA Championship and a tie for second in the 2016 U.S. Open, where he also finished ninth the following year.<\/p>\n

Lowry recorded 12 top 25 finishes last season, including a tie for 12th at the Zurich. He enjoyed one of his best years on the PGA Tour in 2024.
