<\/p>\nIt\u2019s looking like April 2026 is going to be unusually good in the Alps, with the mountains of Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland switching back to full-on winter mode for the final week of March.<\/p>\n
Up to a metre of snowfall has fallen in the past few days, just a week ahead of the Easter weekend. Things were already looking good in the western Alps with snow lying up to 4m deep on high ground, nearly 50% above the long-term average for this time of year.\u00a0 Verbier, which has had around 50cm of snowfall so far, is pictured top.<\/p>\n

Of course, the snowfall won\u2019t last forever and spring sunshine will soon be back, perfect for long afternoons on a mountain terrace soaking up the rays, but the current refresh is a real bonus.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s no need to even ski, though most of our guests will do. Chris Thompson, director of high-end chalet rental specialist OVO Network<\/a>, agrees,<\/p>\n \u201cThe Alps have had a fabulous season this year. The snowfall has been exceptional and that means that if you can get away for some spring skiing you\u2019re in for a treat. Longer days, quieter slopes and deep snow mean there\u2019s plenty to get excited about in resort, plus April offers great value for money with cheaper prices for both accommodation and travel. If you like to squeeze in a last ski of the season this is one year not to miss.\u201d<\/p>\n Besides the snowfall and good weather there are lots of other bonuses to April skiing including quieter slopes and lower prices for many things including two of the big ones: lift passes and accommodation.<\/p>\n \u201cApril often brings that ideal mix of quieter slopes, milder days and good value so with the conditions as they are, skiers are in for a real treat.
