KitKat executives have acknowledged that 12 tonnes of their products have been taken and addressed worries regarding potential Easter supply issues.<\/p>\n
Nestl\u00e9 has declined to specify precisely where the lorry went missing. There are suggestions the pinched confectionery might find its way onto unauthorised distribution networks throughout Europe, though the firm remains optimistic about recovering the stolen goods.<\/p>\n
The thieves struck while a lorry travelled from central Italy towards Poland, transporting the beloved chocolate bars across the continent. To the disappointment of chocolate enthusiasts anticipating the Easter bank holiday, food and drink corporation Nestl\u00e9 has cautioned this “may lead to a shortage of KitKats appearing on shelves, which is why consumers, unfortunately, may struggle to find their favourite chocolates ahead of Easter.”<\/p>\n
However, KitKat has subsequently issued a statement confirming “supply is not affected.”, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n Earlier this week, a KitKat representative remarked: “We’ve always encouraged people to have a break with KITKAT – but it seems thieves have taken the message too literally and made a break with more than 12 tonnes of our chocolate,” A spokesperson for KitKat released an official statement last night, confirming: We can confirm that 12T of KitKat products were stolen while in transit between our factory in central Italy and their destination in Poland. We are working closely with local authorities and supply chain partners to investigate.”<\/p>\n They added: “The good news: there are no concerns for consumer safety and supply is not affected.”<\/p>\n KitKat also disclosed in a statement that the missing bars can be traced using a unique batch code. Those who scan these distinctive batch numbers will receive instructions on how to contact KitKat.
