{"id":44196,"date":"2026-04-04T06:51:03","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T06:51:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/44196\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T06:51:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T06:51:03","slug":"kitkat-launches-stolen-chocolate-tracker-after-thieves-made-off-with-12-tons","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/44196\/","title":{"rendered":"KitKat launches stolen chocolate tracker after thieves made off with 12 tons"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KitKat is asking for the public\u2019s help after thieves made off with 12 tons of\u00a0the company\u2019s chocolate\u00a0\u2014 prompting the launch of a new tracking tool to help locate the missing shipment.<\/p>\n<p>The brand, owned by Nestl\u00e9, announced the theft in a March 28 statement.<\/p>\n<p>The company <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/28\/world-news\/thieves-steal-12-tons-of-kitkat-chocolate-bars-in-europe\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said\u00a0413,793 bars vanished\u00a0after leaving a factory in central Italy en route to Poland<\/a>, where they were set for distribution across Europe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve always encouraged people to have a break with KitKat, but it seems thieves have taken the message too literally and made a break with more than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/30\/world-news\/nestle-promises-theres-enough-kitkats-left-for-easter-despite-12-ton-theft-thats-fascinated-the-world\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">12 tons of our chocolate<\/a>,\u201d a KitKat spokesperson said at the time.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson added that while the company does \u201cappreciate the criminals\u2019 exceptional taste,\u201d the cargo theft highlights a growing issue affecting businesses of all sizes.<\/p>\n<p>Nestl\u00e9 said 12 tons of KitKat chocolate bars were stolen in Italy en route to Poland. Dominic Lipinski\/PA Images\/Alamy<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith more sophisticated schemes being deployed on a regular basis, we have chosen to go public with our own experience in the hope that it raises awareness of an increasingly common criminal trend,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday \u2014 which also happened to be <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/tag\/april-fools\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">April Fools\u2019 Day<\/a> \u2014 the company launched a tool for customers to check if their KitKat bars are linked to the theft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomeone really stole 12 tons of KitKats. And we really want to know where they\u2019ve gone,\u201d the company <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KITKAT\/status\/2039270297774207041\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">said in an X post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>KitKat announces its stolen chocolate bar tracker. Anadolu via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>KitKat acknowledged the skepticism while reiterating the theft is real and under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSadly, it\u2019s true!\u201d KitKat responded. \u201cAn actual truckload of KitKats from a new range went missing during transit last week.
