A sharp turnaround is reshaping a busy Geneva roadway, according to the Finger Lakes Times. City Council members who doubted new safety measures last month now back adding flashing crosswalk beacons on South Main Street.<\/p>\n

The change follows public pressure and renewed concern over traffic near Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The city plans a pilot program with beacons at three crossings, along with ideas like lowering the speed limit and restricting parking to improve visibility.<\/p>\n

Officials say the project could cost up to $25,000 but may be reimbursed by the state. City leaders now appear ready to move forward without a formal vote.<\/p>\n
