{"id":52399,"date":"2026-04-20T22:32:30","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T22:32:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/52399\/"},"modified":"2026-04-20T22:32:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T22:32:30","slug":"kanye-west-shows-nixed-in-poland-switzerland-amid-backlash-over-past-antisemitism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/52399\/","title":{"rendered":"Kanye West shows nixed in Poland, Switzerland amid backlash over past antisemitism"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>JTA \u2014 Concerts by Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, have now been called off in Poland and Switzerland amid growing backlash over his past antisemitic comments, further disrupting plans for his upcoming international tour.<\/p>\n<p>Ye also said he had postponed a June concert in Marseille as French media reported that Interior Minister Laurent Nunez was seeking to have the event banned.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,\u201d Ye wrote in a post on X. In a subsequent post, Ye appeared to allude further to the situation, writing, \u201cI know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cancellations follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/kanye-west-barred-from-uk-over-antisemitic-history-causing-music-festival-cancellation\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">scrapping of a London music festival<\/a> earlier this month where Ye had been slated to headline, after the British government denied him entry into the country amid mounting pressure from Jewish groups over his history of antisemitic remarks.<\/p>\n<p>While Ye has apologized multiple times for his antisemitic tirades, including his previous vows to go \u201cdeath con 3 on JEWISH PEOPLE\u201d and the release of a song titled \u201cHeil Hitler\u201d last year, the rapper\u2019s upcoming tour this summer has faced mounting cancellations. However, after thorough review, we have decided \u200bnot to proceed with the project, as \u200bwe cannot, in accordance with our values, provide a platform \u200cfor \u2060the artist in question within this context,\u201d a spokesperson told Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2026\/04\/AP101107051159-e1776717581555.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3806567\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/AP101107051159-e1776717581555-640x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tUS singer Kayne West performs at the MTV European Music Awards 2010 concert, in Independence Square, Madrid, November 7, 2010. (Angel Navarrete\/AP)<\/p>\n<p>And after the Polish culture ministry announced it was seeking to block Ye from performing in the country, the Silesian Stadium in Chorz\u00f3w cited \u201cformal and legal reasons\u201d for canceling West\u2019s upcoming June concert.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision to organize a Kanye West concert in Poland is unacceptable,\u201d Poland\u2019s culture minister, Marta Cienkowska, wrote in a post on X, adding, \u201cIn a country scarred by the history of the Holocaust, we cannot pretend that this is just entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ye still has concerts slated in New Delhi, Istanbul, the Netherlands, Italy, Madrid and Portugal later this year.<\/p>\n<p>The Centraal Joods Overleg, a Dutch Jewish watchdog group, called on Dutch Justice Minister David van Weel to cancel Ye\u2019s planned concerts in the country earlier this month, writing that it must \u201capply the same standards\u201d as the UK and Australia, which barred Ye from entering the country in July.
