In the&#10;sky three arches are visible, with the Milky Way on either side&#10;and zodiacal light in the center. &#10;Please see the explanation for more detailed information.\" style=\"max-width:100%\"\/><\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p> Three Sky Arches over Snowy Alps  <br \/> Image Credit &amp; Copyright:<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/angelfux\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Angel Fux<\/a><\/p>\n<p> Explanation:<br \/>\nWhy are there three arches across the sky instead of two?<\/p>\n<p>Last month, after being<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.angelfux.com\/p\/triple-arch-at-4200m-matterhorn\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dropped off by a helicopter<\/a> at a<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/rxeK5Q2N-Is?t=617\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">high mountain peak<\/a> in the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alps\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alps<\/a> near the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Switzerland\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Swiss<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Italy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Italian<\/a> border,<br \/>\nan adventurous astrophotographer expected two arches of<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/asset\/webb\/milky-way-and-our-location\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">our Milky Way galaxy<\/a> to be<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/capturetheatlas.com\/best-time-to-see-the-milky-way\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">visible<\/a> during the night.<\/p>\n<p>These were the inner arch looking in<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap251109.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">toward the center<\/a> of our galaxy on the left,<br \/>\nvisible just before sunrise, and the<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap220312.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">outer arch<\/a> on the<br \/>\nright visible just after sunset.  <\/p>\n<p>But there were three arches.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/aww\/comments\/2jqsdk\/the_omg_cat\/#lightbox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">surprised<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.levoyageur.ch\/women-invited\/angel-fux\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">astrophotographer<\/a> soon realized that the sky was<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap200408.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">so dark<\/a> that an<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/apod.nasa.gov\/apod\/ap170429.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">entire arc<\/a> of faint<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zodiacal_light\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">zodiacal light<\/a> was also noticeable &#8212;<br \/>\nsunlight scattered by inner<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/eyes.nasa.gov\/apps\/solar-system\/#\/home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Solar System dust<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>And it artfully connected the two Milky Way arches!
