Kit Kat maker Nestle<\/a> is set to slash more than 450 jobs in the UK, a union claims. The GMB <\/a>says the cull be felt across the country, and warned it will \u201crip the heart from communities\u201d.<\/p>\n The majority of the jobs will go in York and Gatwick, it says, while factories across the UK could be affected.<\/p>\n It comes after Nestle, which make a host of iconic brands, including Kit Kat, Milky Bar, Aero and Felix cat food, announced 16,000 job cuts worldwide in October last year<\/a>.<\/p>\n Charlotte Brumpton-Childs, GMB<\/a> National Secretary, said: \u201cThese job cuts will rip the heart out of communities.<\/p>\n \u201cNestle workers \u2013 who make some of the UK\u2019s best loved treats \u2013 have already put up with years of uncertainty and job losses.<\/p>\n \u201cGMB will working closely with members and the company to ease the pain of these cuts as much as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n Nestle’s many products also includes Aero bars(Image: Sunday Mirror)<\/p>\n READ MORE: Sainsbury’s boss issues urgent plea over Iran war energy cost<\/a>READ MORE: World famous pottery maker Denby to end manufacturing in ‘devastating’ move<\/a><\/p>\n A Nestle spokesperson said: \u201cWe said in 2025 that we will reduce our global workforce by 16,000 roles and that process is ongoing.<\/p>\n \u201cAs always, we will manage any changes in the right way and in consultation with our people.<\/p>\n \u201cAny proposed changes will always be shared with those affected first and we have no further update to give at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n Announcing the mass cull in October, Nestle said it needed to \u201cchange faster\u201d and secure its future \u201cas a leader in our industry\u201d.<\/p>\n The reductions are expected to include around 12,000 \u201cwhite-collar professionals\u201d across business functions.
