{"id":56035,"date":"2026-04-26T17:37:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-26T17:37:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/56035\/"},"modified":"2026-04-26T17:37:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-26T17:37:21","slug":"swiss-police-break-up-pro-palestinian-demonstration-in-bern","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/56035\/","title":{"rendered":"Swiss police break up pro-Palestinian demonstration in Bern"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Muhammet Ikbal Arslan and Gizem Nisa Demir<\/p>\n<p>12 October 2025\u2022Update: 13 October 2025<\/p>\n<p>BERN\/ISTANBUL<\/p>\n<p>Swiss police intervened Sunday in a pro-Palestinian demonstration held in the capital, Bern.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of people gathered in the city center to take part in the rally in support of Palestine.<\/p>\n<p>Tensions escalated when protesters began marching toward the Federal Parliament building, prompting police intervention.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities cordoned off the area surrounding the parliament and blocked the demonstrators\u2019 advances, placing part of the crowd under containment.<\/p>\n<p>Carrying Palestinian flags, the protesters chanted slogans such as \u201cFree Palestine\u201d and \u201cFrom the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the protest, a fire broke out nearby, and firefighters were dispatched to the scene to bring it under control.<\/p>\n<p>Later, some demonstrators attempted to block the city\u2019s central train station, but police, who had established tight security perimeters, prevented them from doing so.<\/p>\n<p>Officers used tear gas and water cannons to disperse hundreds of people gathered in the area.
