NEW DELHI \u2014 Six passengers were injured after a Zurich-bound Swiss International Air Lines flight aborted takeoff at Indira Gandhi International Airport early Sunday, officials said.<\/p>\n
Delhi airport authorities said a full emergency was declared involving Flight LX147.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll prescribed safety protocols were promptly executed, and passengers were safely evacuated. Airport operations remained unaffected,\u201d the airport said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Local broadcaster NDTV reported that six passengers were injured and taken to hospital.<\/p>\n
Swiss International Air Lines said there were 228 passengers and four infants on board the aircraft.<\/p>\n
The airline said an issue occurred with one of the engines shortly after the takeoff roll began.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe crew rejected the takeoff and, following an assessment of the situation, decided as a precaution to evacuate the aircraft,\u201d the airline said.<\/p>\n
It added that six passengers were receiving medical treatment, while crew members were unharmed.<\/p>\n
A passenger identifying himself as Aakarsh Gupta wrote on X that a \u201cmassive blast-like sound\u201d was heard before pilots applied heavy braking on the runway.<\/p>\n
He also claimed the engine caught fire before all passengers were evacuated.<\/p>\n
