ZURICH, March 28 (Reuters) – Twelve tons of KitKat chocolate bars went missing in \u200bEurope last week after thieves \u200cmade off with the truck transporting them, Swiss food giant Nestle (NESN.S), opens new tab<\/a> said on \u200bSaturday.<\/p>\n

KitKat, which is made by \u200bNestle, said the truck carrying 413,793 \u2060bars of its new range \u200bset off from central Italy to \u200bdistribute the chocolate throughout Europe, but never reached its scheduled final destination in Poland.<\/p>\n

The \u200bvehicle and the merchandise remain \u200bunaccounted for. Nestle did not reveal where \u200cexactly \u2060the truck was lost.<\/p>\n

In a separate statement, KitKat said the missing bars are traceable via a unique \u200bbatch code. \u200bAnyone \u2060scanning the batch numbers of the stolen chocolate would \u200breceive instructions on how to \u200bcontact \u2060KitKat.<\/p>\n

“Whilst we appreciate the criminals’ exceptional taste, the fact remains that \u2060cargo \u200btheft is an escalating \u200bissue for businesses of all sizes,” KitKat said.<\/p>\n
