The Fitzpatrick brothers feared backlash from their father before Matt and Alex took home the trophy at the Zurich Classic.<\/p>\n
Matt<\/a> was coming off an incredible playoff win at the RBC Heritage, and he and his brother finished the tournament at TPC Louisiana 31-under, claiming a one-stroke victory. Alex, Matt\u2019s younger brother, earned a PGA Tour card with the win and a chance at the Tour\u2019s signature events.<\/a><\/p>\n Alex sank the final putt after Matt hit a clutch shot out of a green-side bunker on 18, placing it just inches from the hole and leaving his brother with a gimme putt. He was kind of saying to me\u2026 I looked across, and he was like, Come on, keep going, keep going.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was really nice. That was a really nice moment for me personally. It was like, Yeah, Come on, mate, let\u2019s keep going here.<\/p>\n The Fitzpatrick brothers earned the crown at the Zurich Classic<\/p>\n “Today I didn\u2019t expect to be as nervous as I was. Like going to bed last night, totally fine. I was like we\u2019re both playing well, four shots clear. We had a great day on Friday. We were really comfortable with what we were doing.\u201d<\/p>\n Alex secured a two-year status on the Tour with the win alongside his brother, and crouched to the ground after he sank the 12-inch putt for the win.<\/p>\n “I couldn’t feel my hands. I couldn’t feel my legs. It’s been brilliant,” mother Sue Fitzpatrick said as she walked from a post-tournament concert toward the clubhouse. “What a great finish.”<\/p>\n Alex Fitzpatrick couldn\u2019t contain his excitement for the next two years as he will compete alongside his brother on the PGA Tour.<\/p>\n \u201cMatt put his arm around me after he just stiffed it to a foot on the last,\u201d said Alex.<\/p>\n \u201cI was crouching there.
