NESTLE Philippines is strengthening its transition toward lower-emission operations with the integration of biomass energy in its manufacturing processes as part of its long-term net zero commitment.<\/p>\n
The Philippine arm of the Swiss food giant said domestic operations were already powered entirely by renewable electricity sourced from hydroelectric and geothermal energy, covering Nestle manufacturing sites, administrative offices and distribution centers in the country.<\/p>\n
Nestle Philippines Chairman and CEO Mauricio Alarcon said the company was now focusing on reducing emissions from energy-intensive production processes through targeted operational changes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe new biomass facility will power the spray-drying process for milk production, which is one of the company\u2019s most energy-intensive production processes,\u201d Alarcon said.<\/p>\n
The integration of biomass energy, he continued, is expected to further cut emissions from manufacturing operations. \u201cThe integration of the facility in operations will contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing operations toward net zero.\u201d<\/p>\n
