One of the most memorable moments of a Queens man\u2019s life was turned upside down when, he said, thieves coordinated a pair of burglaries around his wedding day so they could rob his family\u2019s home and vendor business.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s supposed to be the happiest day of my life,\u201d said Basel Bakr. \u201cUnfortunately, it couldn\u2019t be that due to someone who was trying to take advantage of that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bakr said this past Sunday, on his wedding day, six pushcarts that his family owns as part of their food vendor business were stolen from their warehouse in Bayonne, N.J.

The home Bakr shares with his family in East Elmhurst, Queens had also just been burglarized shortly after his wedding began

NYPD officials said they arrested 38-year-old Ali Sohby, 43-year-old Mahmoud Ahmed, and 23-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim on Wednesday in connection with a stolen pushcart<\/p>\n
Bakr said that\u2019s because this past Sunday, on his wedding day, six pushcarts that his family owns as part of their food vendor business were stolen from their warehouse in Bayonne, N.J. The Bayonne Police Department told NY1 it\u2019s investigating the thefts.<\/p>\n
That would not be the only bad news he received on his wedding day.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring my entrance for my wedding ceremony, it was very unfortunate that two of my brothers had to leave and rush back home immediately,\u201d Bakr said.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s because the home Bakr shares with his family in East Elmhurst, Queens had just been burglarized shortly after his wedding began. NY1 obtained surveillance video that shows some people the family said broke into their home.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe sadly had to miss out on our brother\u2019s wedding to deal with this situation that happened,\u201d said Bakr\u2019s twin brother, Adham Bakr.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey stole my mom\u2019s jewelry, approximately $500,000-$600,000,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Basel Bakr\u2019s brother, Adham Bakr, said a few days later they were at a city Department of Health inspection facility in the Bronx when they recognized one of their stolen pushcarts in the possession of three men. The brothers said they called the police and recorded video of officers arresting the men.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey tried to fraudulently get a food permit put on it,\u201d Adham Bakr said.<\/p>\n
NYPD officials said they arrested 38-year-old Ali Sohby, 43-year-old Mahmoud Ahmed, and 23-year-old Mohamed Ibrahim on Wednesday. The Bronx District Attorney\u2019s Office said they were arraigned on charges of criminal possession of stolen property in connection to the stolen pushcart, and they all pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n
NY1 reached out to all of their attorneys seeking comment, but have yet to hear back.<\/p>\n
The brothers believe the thieves purposely waited until Basel Bakr\u2019s wedding day to rob the New Jersey warehouse and his Queens home, stealing personal possessions and professional equipment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just need help retrieving the five other vehicles and, if possible, the gold as well,\u201d said Adham Bakr.<\/p>\n
\u201cBasically taking everything we own,\u201d Basel Bakr said. \u201cEverything we live off of. Our business and our home.\u201d<\/p>\n
The family said they\u2019re offering a $10,000 reward for any information leading to the recovery of their stolen valuables. NYPD data shows that 43 burglaries have occurred in the 115th precinct where the Queens burglary occurred. That\u2019s down 32% compared to this time last year.<\/p>\n
