This area, located adjacent to Saint Augustine\u2019s University, carries deep roots in the community and rich cultural significance. The site\u2019s name pays homage to James Alexander Boyer, the 7th President of Saint Augustine\u2019s University (1956), whose legacy is reflected in nearby Boyer Street.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2023, the City finalized the $2.9 million acquisition of the former Zack\u2019s Grocery site, using funds from the 2020 Affordable Housing Bond. This parcel will be combined with an existing, city-owned lot along Boyer Street, creating a powerful opportunity for transformation and revitalization in East College Park.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A Hub for Future Growth\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new development will be a vibrant mixed-use community, centered around multi-family affordable housing and commercial business spaces that bring new energy and opportunity to the corridor.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Strategically located along the planned <a href=\"https:\/\/raleighnc.gov\/bus-rapid-transit\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Bern Avenue Wake Bus Rapid Transit (BRT)<\/a> route, the site will feature an enhanced BRT station stop, ensuring convenient, high-quality transit access for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An Exciting Future for East College Park\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As we plan the future of this key development site, the City is committed to inclusive, community-involved development.
