Geneva, Ala. (WDNews) \u2014 According to the Geneva Police Department, a Geneva man has been arrested following an attempted murder investigation involving an edged weapon assault Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
Police said officers responded around 9:30 a.m. to a residence in the 600 block of Crosstimbers Drive. When officers arrived, they found the victim conscious and alert with a laceration across the front of his neck.<\/p>\n
Investigators said witnesses identified Gregory Goldsmith as the suspect and reported he allegedly assaulted the victim with a razor blade before fleeing the scene.<\/p>\n
Authorities said Goldsmith was believed to be traveling to a residence on Cinema Drive in Enterprise. A BOLO was issued, and around 10:30 a.m., the Enterprise Police Department notified Geneva Police that Goldsmith had been taken into custody.<\/p>\n
Goldsmith was transported back to Geneva, where he was charged with attempted murder. Officials said he is currently on parole for first-degree robbery and first-degree theft of property. He was booked into the Geneva County Jail and is being held without bond.<\/p>\n
The victim was transported to a regional hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.<\/p>\n
Geneva Police credited officers on scene, 911 dispatchers at 34 Central, and the Enterprise Police Department for helping quickly take the suspect into custody.<\/p>\n
