Dutch Olympic medalist\u00a0Caspar Corbeau<\/a> wasted no time making his presence known, grabbing gold in the men\u2019s 50m breaststroke.<\/p>\n Tonight, the former University of Texas Longhorn put up a super solid swim of 26.95 to beat the pack, establishing a season-best in the process.<\/p>\n Turkish swimmer\u00a0Nusrat Allahverdi<\/a> was next to the wall in 27.18, the 2nd-best time of his career, while Antoine Viquerat<\/a> of France checked in with 27.67 for the bronze.<\/p>\n As for 24-year-old Corbeau, tonight\u2019s sub-27-second outing represented his 2nd-best ever performance, tying the same mark he produced in the semi-finals of the event at last year\u2019s World Championships to place 12th overall. There in Singapore, Corbeau hit a slightly quicker personal best of 26.94 in the prelims. The 26-year-old has already posted a time of 21.51 this season, the lifetime best he registered last December.<\/p>\n 2Chris It was Belgium\u2019s Gaspard who doubled up on the 50m breast she won earlier tonight, supplying a time of 24.61 to lead a trio of sub-25-second women in their edition of the 50m free.<\/p>\n Her time was within striking distance of the national record of 24.42 put on the books at last year\u2019s Swim Open Stockholm.<\/p>\n French racing mainstay Beryl Gastaldello<\/a> settled for silver tonight in 24.74 and teammate\u00a0Marie Wattel<\/a> posted 24.77 to round out the podium.<\/p>\n Additional Notes<\/p>\n Italy\u2019s\u00a0Davide Marchello<\/a> was too quick to catch in the men\u2019s 400m free, turning in a time of 3:53.23 for the top spot.
