(WNCT) \u2014 The N.C. Department of Transportation will improve the intersection of Dr. M L King Jr. Boulevard (U.S. 70 Business\/U.S. 17) at Hotel Drive beginning next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Beginning May 18, the first phase of the project will be underway. Crews will close the left lanes of Dr. M L King Jr. Boulevard in both directions to widen the left turn lanes onto Hotel Drive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">This work is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting. The left lanes will reopen once work is complete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Other improvements include drainage, paving, signals and pedestrian accommodations, which will require closures throughout the summer.
