(WITN) &#8211; Chrysanthemums and banners are seen scattered throughout New Bern as everyone prepares for its biggest festival of the year, including the city. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to New Bern\u2019s tourism authority, MumFest weekend generates over a million dollars in economic spending in Craven County. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">With new updates, including an improved layout, musicians, kid zones, and regional food, the city anticipates another year of increased visitors following last year\u2019s total of over 67,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">City leaders say the influx boosts the local economy and are looking forward to what this year has in store. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cSo that\u2019s heads in bed, that\u2019s buying gas to drive down here, it\u2019s hopefully buying things while you\u2019re here. Not only in the shops but also from vendors,\u201d New Bern City Manager Foster Hughes said. \u201cWhat I really like about MumFest is that it\u2019s the start of our holiday season, so to speak.
