(WITN) &#8211; Construction to improve a New Bern intersection is set to begin next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Starting Monday, crews will close the left lanes in both directions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to widen the left-turn lanes onto Hotel Drive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">NCDOT says this first phase of the project is expected to take about two weeks, weather permitting. The lanes will reopen once the work is complete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">More improvements throughout the summer will include drainage, paving, signals, and pedestrian accommodations, with lane closures expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Drivers are asked to use caution near the work zone and find detour routes.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WITN.
