Raised in Rongit village in Nandi County\u2014one of Kenya\u2019s most reliable exporters of endurance talent\u2014Kipruto comes by the sport honestly. His mother, Teresa Chepngetich, and father, former 800-metre runner Gilbert Kipchoge, provided the genetic scaffolding; the rest he has built himself with a disciplined upbringing and a seamless transition to American collegiate racing.<\/p>\n
