FIRST PITCH IS AT 640. AND FINALLY THE GRAND OPENING OF A NEW GOLF COURSE IN WISCONSIN WITH A TASTY TWIST. BIG 12 SPORTS PAT TIMLIN TEES OFF AT GRAND GENEVA. >> AND AS ONE DOES, CELEBRATING WITH A LITTLE SHOT. >> NIP SHOT. KICK IT OFF. ABSOLUTELY. >> CHEERS. >> BUT AT GRAND GENEVA, WI, NIP IS MORE THAN JUST A TASTE. THE RESORT’S BRAND NEW SHORT COURSE IS PART OF A LARGER TREND THAT’S CHANGING THE GAME OF GOLF. >> IF YOU’RE INTO GOLF AND YOU’RE AROUND THE COUNTRY, YOU SEE THE PAR THREE COURSES. THESE SHORT COURSES HAVE REALLY BEEN CATCHING ON OVER THE LAST TEN YEARS. AND I SAID, WE HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THESE. >> WITH SHORTER ROUNDS, FASTER PLAY AND A MORE SOCIAL ATMOSPHERE. THIS 11 HOLE COURSE WAS DESIGNED TO REWARD CREATIVITY AND NOT JUST POWER. >> REALLY, THE POINT HERE IS TO KIND OF PUT THE CART IN PENCIL ASIDE, RIGHT? TAKE A FEW CLUBS. WE STILL WANT THE ARCHITECTURE TO BE ENGAGING. WE WANT IT TO BE REALLY INTERESTING. WE WANT YOU TO REMEMBER EVERY HOLE. >> AND THAT’S REALLY THE GOAL HERE. WHETHER YOU’RE A SCRATCH GOLFER, A FAMILY ON VACATION, OR SOMEBODY PICKING UP A CLUB FOR THE FIRST TIME, IT’S DESIGNED TO MAKE GOLF A LOT LESS INTIMIDATING AND A WHOLE LOT MORE FUN. >> AND WHEN YOU’RE IN EUROPE, YOU CARRY A FLASK. YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME SCOTCH IN IT, YOU MIGHT HAVE A WEE NIP. >> ON THE PUTTING GREEN. I’M PAT TIMLIN, WISN 12 SPORTS. >> THANK YOU. >> PAT. >> HEY, WE ALL NEED A LITTLE WEE NIP, RIGHT? MAYBE AFTER THE SHOW TONIGHT AT 11. >> THERE YOU GO. YOU KNOW WHAT? TEMPERATURES ARE CHANGING. THEY ARE. >> YOU KNOW, YOU GET A WEE NIP AND IT WARMS YOU UP, THOUGH. 64 DEGREES I

Grand Geneva debuts 11-hole Wee Nip short course

Short courses are catching on across golf.
