NEW BERN, N.C. (WITN) – Voters across New Bern went to the polls today to elect local leaders.<\/p>\n
Municipal elections closed at 7:30 p.m. today.<\/p>\n
Residents voted for the next mayor, and all six of the city\u2019s alderman seats are on the ballot.<\/p>\n
New Bern residents also voted on a city bond referendum for proposed city upgrades.<\/p>\n
Early voting was available at the Stanley White Recreation Center ahead of Election Day, which wrapped up on Saturday. <\/p>\n
One race many are watching is the alderman seat for Ward 6, which has been vacant since July 2024. That\u2019s when Alderman Bob Brinson resigned to take a state Senate seat.<\/p>\n
Moves to appoint a new alderman ended in a 3-3 deadlocks, so aldermen decided to leave the seat vacant until the election.<\/p>\n
