Meghan Markle headed to Geneva ahead of the 79th World Health Assembly.<\/p>\n

The Duchess of Sussex gave a speech at the inauguration ceremony for The Lost Screen Memorial on Geneva\u2019s Place des Nations.<\/p>\n

For the solemn occasion, the duchess wore a sleek monochromatic black ensemble.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, Meghan Markle<\/a> made an appearance in Geneva with World Health Organization<\/a> (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. The Duchess of Sussex was invited to give a speech at the inauguration ceremony for The Lost Screen Memorial on Geneva\u2019s Place des Nations in front of global health leaders. The event was co-hosted by Meghan\u2019s Archewell Philanthropies<\/a>, which she started with her husband, Prince Harry, and came just before the opening of the 79th World Health Assembly.<\/p>\n

For her speech, Meghan wore a black suit over a black cami. Her hair was back in a bun, and around her neck she wore small gold jewelry pieces, including a necklace, several bracelets, a watch, and dark stone earrings. On her feet she wore a pair of black suede pumps.<\/p>\n

The installation of light boxes displayed the lock screen image of children lost to online violence. Meghan addressed the crowd and the families of the victims being honored at the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cBehind me stands The Lost Screen Memorial,\u201d she began<\/a>. \u201cNot statistics. Not avatars. Not data points. Children. Each name belonged to a child who was loved beyond measure. A child whose laughter once filled a kitchen. Whose shoes once waited by a front door. Whose future once felt limitless.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cNow their faces ask the world questions we can no longer avoid: How many more millions of children will be harmed by products that, while innovative, are still designed without sufficient safeguards? When will children be able to enjoy the extraordinary potential of technology without it compromising their wellbeing?\u201d<\/p>\n

Meghan went on to condemn \u201crelentless algorithms, exploitative engagement, and endless exposure to harmful content,\u201d before insisting that these outcomes are \u201cnot inevitable\u201d and that safety for children can be an aspect of social media and tech design.<\/p>\n

The duchess went on to urge parents to model good social media usage and to contact elected representatives about putting laws in place to protect children from harm online.<\/p>\n

The night before she arrived in Geneva, the duchess shared a photo on her timeline with her daughter, 4-year-old Lilibet, as she helped her mom get ready for another unspecified event.<\/p>\n
