Glencore<\/a> (LSE:GLEN) has an employee recovering from sustained burns following an incident at its Oaky Creek Coal Project, 102km northeast of Emerald.<\/p>\n

The Queensland Ambulance Service<\/a> (QAS) responded to Triple Zero calls that a male aged over 50 had his face exposed to extreme heat shortly after opening a generator cabinet at about 10:38am on 21 May 2026.<\/p>\n

When paramedics arrived at the location off Oaky Creek Mine Access, they administered first-aid before airlifting the worker 312km east to Rockhampton Hospital via the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue<\/a> Service.<\/p>\n

QAS confirmed the man is in a \u2018stable condition\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Glencore\u2019s \u2018immediate priority\u2019 is the safety, health, and well-being of the injured person and its workforce.<\/p>\n

\u201cGlencore can confirm an incident occurred at our Oaky Creek coal mine\u2019s surface operations on Thursday and that an emergency response was initiated,\u201d a spokesperson tells Industry Queensland.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe incident involved a worker who sustained injuries and was transferred to hospital for treatment.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Oaky Creek mine is jointly owned by Glencore (55%), SCAP Oaky Creek (25%), and ICRA (20%).<\/p>\n

Glencore is a multinational commodity trading and mining company with assets spanning more than 30 different countries.<\/p>\n
