Meghan Markle is being slammed for her visit to Geneva.<\/p>\n

According to royal expert Tom Skyes, the Duchess of Sussex\u2019s trip to Switzerland to help launch the Lost Screen Memorial was not the success she\u2019d hoped for.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we saw this weekend in Geneva was a kind of a PR mess, right?\u201d he questioned during an episode of \u201cThe Royalist<\/a>\u201d podcast. \u201cIt was a kind of a catastrophe, really.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very much structured to try and recover from the Australian catastrophe, which was a complete disaster. People did not like what they put across in Australia,\u201d the commentator said.<\/p>\n

Last month, Meghan and Prince Harry<\/a> stoked tensions with The Firm by traveling to Australia for what looked like an unofficial tour. Despite the backlash, the pair reportedly saw it as a major win.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you\u2019re always told by Team Sussex is: \u2018Well, you had to be there. You had to be there. If you were there, you would have seen it was really different.’\u201d Sykes remarked.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, I was there, and it wasn\u2019t different,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n

While in Geneva, Meghan gave a 10-minute speech held on the Place des Nations about the dangers of social media for children. Unfortunately, the mother of two seemingly failed to draw a large audience.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt didn\u2019t seem like a particularly starry crowd, let\u2019s put it that way,\u201d Sykes pointed out.<\/p>\n

The reporter also claimed Meghan\u2019s address \u201chad almost no pickup in the global media, to be really honest. Virtually no international journalists had traveled there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sykes also criticized the topic of the With Love, Meghan star\u2019s speech as she shares her two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy then did it all feel so strange and weird and like we\u2019d slightly stepped into a parallel universe?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the first thing that sprang to mind for me was that if this is what Megan wants to do, if she wants to go around giving speeches on important matters that people otherwise don\u2019t give enough attention to, then it seems to me an odd decision to have left the British royal family,\u201d Sykes said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Meghan Markle is being slammed for her visit to Geneva.
