The city is renting around 2,200 square meters in the complex, which is still under construction, and will convert it into classrooms, childcare and catering facilities for 130 pupils by summer 2027. The one-off expenditure amounts to a total of CHF 12.5 million, of which CHF 6.7 million is for the rent from February 2027 to September 2032 and CHF 5.9 million for the expansion.<\/p>\n<p>The Manegghof is being built by the Pensimo investment foundations Turidomus and Pensimo, which will have the building completed in the fall. The complex comprises 179 apartments for people aged 55 and over &#8211; 119 of which are rented out by Pensimo itself and 60 by the City of Zurich&#8217;s retirement apartments foundation &#8211; as well as around 3,500 square meters of commercial space on the ground and upper floors, which will be offered in a high-end shell construction. The general planner is Losinger Marazzi, the architectural concept is by JSWD Architekten. The Manegghof completes the construction of the Greencity quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Interim solution until the H\u00f6ckler school complex is occupied in 2032<\/p>\n<p>The classroom in Manegghof is a temporary solution. The 700 square meters in the course center at Maneggstrasse 37, which has been rented for the Allmend school complex since 2020, will be vacated in summer 2027 due to the landlord&#8217;s own requirements. The new H\u00f6ckler school complex will not fill the gap until then: it is not due to open until the 2032\/33 school year. In June 2025, the city council requested one-off expenditure of CHF 141 million for its construction; the voters will have the final say.<\/p>\n<p>Connection to the Allmend school complex<\/p>\n<p>Manegghof is directly adjacent to the Allmend school complex, which was awarded in an architectural competition in 2017. Meals will continue to be prepared there and delivered to Manegghof, which is why the kitchen infrastructure at Allmend will be slightly expanded. The outdoor space at Manegghof will be landscaped and equipped with play equipment.
