{"id":7544,"date":"2026-02-15T12:55:28","date_gmt":"2026-02-15T12:55:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/7544\/"},"modified":"2026-02-15T12:55:28","modified_gmt":"2026-02-15T12:55:28","slug":"obituary-geneva-brown-jackson-of-berryville-virginia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/7544\/","title":{"rendered":"Obituary | Geneva Brown Jackson of Berryville, Virginia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0TO VIEW THE SERVICE LIVE ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2026\u00a0 AT 1:00 P.M. &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/webcast.funeralvue.com\/events\/viewer\/120079\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Geneva Brown Jackson, 92, of Berryville, Virginia passed peacefully Friday, February 6, 2026 at her residence, surrounded by her family. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Geneva was born November 3, 1933 in Bentonville, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Henry Brown and Georgia Morris Brown. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She owned her own catering business and was well known for her ham biscuits and baked goodies. \u00a0Her license plate &#8220;GJ Cooks&#8221; was very well known around Clarke County.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, Women\u2019s Auxiliary of Northern Virginia Baptist Association, member of Virginia Association for Family and Community Education, a volunteer for The Shelter for Abused Women, vice president of the Josephine Improvement Association, supporter of Blue Ridge Hospice and member of Johnson-Williams Reunion Association. \u00a0She was the last living original FISH Board member, having served for 58 years. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She received many awards including best costume for the sesquicentennial outfit contest in Berryville in June 1986, an award from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University College of Human Resources in Blacksburg, Virginia in June 1989. \u00a0Geneva received an award in June 1994 in appreciation for her service and commitment to the staff and clients of the Shelter for abused women. \u00a0She received a certificate of Recognition from the Women\u2019s Auxiliary of Northern Virginia Baptist Association, Gainesville, Virginia for eight years as the president of usher board for Zion Baptist Church, Berryville, August 1997. \u00a0August 2019, she was awarded the Soul Food\u2019s, Shenandoah Valley History and Chefs Honor. \u00a0She was presented a certificate as the Masty Kerns Volunteer of the year award for rape victim companions for her volunteer service to The Shelter for Abused Women, June 2000, she was awarded in June 2004, the Berryville-Clarke Hometown Hero for \u201cservice through sacrifice\u201d. \u00a0She received a certificate of recognition from the Virginia Association for family and community education for 20 years of membership in September 2001. \u00a0In October 2016, she was presented a certificate of appreciation for 67 years of service to Zion Baptist Church and in February 2021, she was presented by Zion Baptist Church youth department by Deacon Ottis Harper and Sister Felicia Fooks, a salutation for her self-sacrifice, love of family, church and community involvement. \u00a0Blue Ridge Hospice presented her with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of her extraordinary commitment to serving our community and supporting Blue Ridge Hospice, October 2022. \u00a0She was presented an award in July 2023 from the Johnson-Williams Runion Association for her years of dedicated service to our community. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0She married Palmer Nelson Jackson, Sr., in 1953 in Berryville, Virginia and they were married for 61 years. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Leaving to cherish her memories are her three daughters, Pamela Armour of Lake City, SC, Paula Brooks of Charles Town, WV and Patricia Davis (Warren) of Houston, TX; two sons, Palmer S. Jackson, Jr. of Martinsburg, WV and Patrick C. Jackson of Berryville, VA; two sisters, Gladys Nelson of Berryville, VA and Corrine Belford of Atlanta, GA; a brother, Thomas Brown of Berryville, VA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Alice White, John \u201cSonny\u201d Brown, Willie Brown, Eleanor Blair and Ellis Brown.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The family will receive friends from 12:00 \u2013 1:00 P.M. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 14, 2026 at Enders &amp; Shirley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Scott, eulogist and Rev. Karlyle Hill officiating. Burial will be private.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Laurel Center, P.O. Box 14, Winchester, VA \u00a022604, John H.
