(WITN) &#8211; The City of New Bern says the process of fixing the frozen clock at city hall has begun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A New Bern spokesperson said Monday the parts to fix the clock have been ordered. The clock has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/05\/27\/time-stands-still-new-bern-city-hall-iconic-clock-awaits-repair\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.witn.com\/2026\/05\/27\/time-stands-still-new-bern-city-hall-iconic-clock-awaits-repair\/\">stuck at 4:07 for over two weeks<\/a>. The city says it needed a complete replacement of the gearbox, costing $6,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The city says the repairs will take about six to eight weeks to complete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The clock was also repaired in 2019 as part of a $130,000 project to modernize it and add automated adjustments during daylight saving time.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WITN.
