Members of Mexico\u2019s national archery team experienced an emotional moment during a visit to Olympic House in Lausanne on 29 May, as Olympians Alejandra Valencia<\/a>, Ana Paula Vazquez<\/a> and Angela Ruiz<\/a> added their signatures to the Olympians Wall.<\/p>\n

The group of 22 athletes and coaches toured the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee<\/a> before gathering for the signing ceremony, which left many in attendance visibly moved.<\/p>\n

\u201cA visit to Olympic House is always a magical experience,\u201d said Marc Dellenbach<\/a>, the World Archery Excellence Centre<\/a> head coach currently leading Mexico\u2019s national recurve squad through LA28.<\/a> \u201cIt reminds us why we work so hard every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s always very emotional because, in just a few minutes, we\u2019re reminded of all the effort it takes to make an Olympic team and, for some, to win a medal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony carried particular significance for Mexico\u2019s Olympians. Between them, Valencia, Vazquez and Ruiz contributed to the women\u2019s team bronze medal won at Paris 2024<\/a>, while Valencia also claimed mixed team bronze at Tokyo 2020<\/a>.<\/p>\n

For Ruiz, the moment was almost surreal.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt felt like a dream,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen I went to the Olympics, I didn\u2019t imagine the amount of impact it could have on my life, and now I\u2019m part of the history of sport around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

As she signed the wall, her thoughts immediately turned to those who helped her reach the Olympic stage.<\/p>\n
