{"id":77810,"date":"2026-06-04T21:38:01","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T21:38:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/77810\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T21:38:01","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T21:38:01","slug":"swiss-striker-breel-embolo-can-travel-to-us-for-world-cup-after-2-day-delay-to-get-visa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ch\/77810\/","title":{"rendered":"Swiss striker Breel Embolo can travel to US for World Cup after 2-day delay to get visa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BERN, Switzerland \u2014 Switzerland striker Breel Embolo received a visa Thursday and is headed to the World Cup, following a two-day delay in the authorization of his travel to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have just been informed that Breel Embolo\u2019s visa has been approved,\u201d the Swiss soccer federation said in a statement about the case that involved a criminal conviction for an incident in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe will therefore be able to travel to the United States tomorrow, Friday,\u201d the federation said. \u201cHe is expected to join the team on Friday evening (local U.S. time).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Switzerland squad based in San Diego has a warmup game Saturday against Australia and starts its World Cup program one week later playing Qatar in Santa Clara.<\/p>\n<p>Embolo was denied boarding of the team&#8217;s flight Tuesday from Zurich to Los Angeles because his authorization to travel was blocked by U.S. authorities who wanted to verify that the incident was non-violent.<\/p>\n<p>He had been prosecuted after a verbal altercation in Basel city center.
