The project will cost the resort $4 million, making it Little Switzerland’s largest investment to date. The lifts will be ready to spin at the beginning of the 2026-27 season.

The new chairlifts will mark “a major milestone in the hill’s history and setting the stage for a dramatically improved guest experience,” the resort wrote in its press release.

With the new quad lifts, Little Switzerland hopes it can shrink lift lines for its guests. The previous One and Two chairs were two-seaters built with an “up and over” design, believed to be the first in the United States when it was built in 1964. While this design allowed for the lifts to utilize two directions on both sides of the hill, stoppages brought halts to two key lifts, growing their lines. The new quads will be built as two separate lifts, solving the issue of a two-lift stoppage. As a smaller resort with only nine ski lifts, minimizing wait times is key to creating positive guest experiences.

The lifts will have red terminals at the top and bottom of the hill, matching Little Switzerland’s brand colors. Little Switzerland began work on the lifts immediately after its 2025-26 season ended. The resort began its project by tearing down the old One and Two lifts, removing the chairs, haul ropes, and towers to make way for the new equipment. Some of the old chairs were even put up for auction.

“This is a major undertaking, with heavy equipment and our grooming fleet helping move materials safely across the hill. Every piece removed is another step toward the future of Little Switz,” the resort wrote.

Over the past few weeks, the resort has been making progress in the new lifts’ construction phase. Foundations are being laid for the towers and terminals, vertical rebar is being set for the towers, and concrete is being poured.

Little Switzerland provides weekly construction updates on its Instagram and blog. It is located roughly 45 minutes outside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The resort has roughly two miles of skiable terrain with a 200-foot vertical drop.

Little Switzerland Ski Area in Slinger, Wisconsin. | Credit: Little Switzerland

Little Switzerland Ski Area will be adding two new quad chairlifts that will open for its 2026-27 season.…

[4
40860,40861,40862,40863,5569,40864,17,11710
post-78370","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-switzerland","tag-major-new-lift","tag-midwest","tag-midwest-ski-resorts","tag-new-lift","tag-ski-industry-news","tag-ski-wisconsin","tag-switzerland","tag-wisconsin
["GET
