(WTVD) &#8212; <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/abc11.com\/post\/novartis-nc-expansion-pharma-company-expand-durham-wake-counties-adding-700-jobs-771-million-investment\/18176007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Global drugmaker, Novartis<\/a>, is committed to North Carolina by expanding in three sites in the Research Triangle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;We know that this is an exceptional manufacturing hub and that&#8217;s what we will need,&#8221; said Victor Bult\u00f3, president of the US unit for Novartis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Leaders broke ground Thursday at <a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/abc11.com\/post\/governor-josh-stein-set-give-update-nc-strong-plan\/18244753\/?userab=abc_web_player-460*variant_b_abc_dmp-1901%2Cotv_web_player-461*variant_b_otv_dmp-1903%2Cotv_web_content_rec-445*variant_a_control-1849%2Chp_banner-426*variant_c_bouncing_arrow-1779\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Novartis&#8217; Durham facility<\/a> that will be a part of the expansion in Durham and Morrisville. The expansion will span across more than 700,000 square feet between the existing campus and new facilities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;It&#8217;s going to create 700 good paying jobs, jobs that will support families,&#8221; Governor Josh Stein said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Stein was among the lineup of speakers, including FDA Commissioner Marty Makary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;It&#8217;s a powerhouse of biotech and many other states envy what North Carolina has been able to achieve,&#8221; Makary said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Makary said he wants to see American companies thrive. For North Carolina, it&#8217;s a win-win situation as the state continues to make gains in the life sciences sector.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Officials expect the expansion to boost the local economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;They could invest anywhere in the world,&#8221; Gov. Stein said. &#8220;We have the best workforce.
