But that\u2019s not all the region is known for. A new crop of design-minded resorts and chalets has made the region a destination for aesthetic feats alongside its athletic ones.<\/p>\n<p>This winter, high-profile openings and renovations in the region, like the reimagination of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/hotel-saint-georges-megeve-opening\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">H\u00f4tel Saint-Georges<\/a> by famed British artist and designer Luke Edward Hall in Meg\u00e8ve and the buzzy opening of Hauser &amp; Wirth\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vogue.com\/article\/chesa-marchetta-hotel-sils-maria\" class=\"text link\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chesa Marchetta<\/a> in the Swiss Alps, captured the design zeitgeist. But if you didn\u2019t make it to these hot spots during ski season, you\u2019re still in luck. Not only are many of these destinations open year-round, many are arguably even lovelier in the summertime. Even better still? One of the first tenets of Alpine design is to ensure that versatility. \u201cWe were very conscious not to design a \u201cwinter mood,\u201d said Armin Fischer, founder of <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/www.dreimeta.com\/\" class=\"external-link text link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/www.dreimeta.com\/&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dreimeta.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dreimeta<\/a>, the interior studio that designed <a data-offer-url=\"https:\/\/cervo.swiss\/en\" class=\"external-link text link\" data-event-click=\"{&quot;element&quot;:&quot;ExternalLink&quot;,&quot;outgoingURL&quot;:&quot;https:\/\/cervo.swiss\/en&quot;}\" href=\"https:\/\/cervo.swiss\/en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cervo<\/a>, a 54-room boutique hotel nestled at the base of the final ski run in Zermatt. \u201cThe idea was to create a mountain atmosphere that works in bright summer light just as much as in deep winter evenings.\u201d The layout of the hotel was carefully designed with the mountain in mind.
