The company is also preparing infrastructure for precision oncology care.

Notably, RLT medicines are highly time sensitive and proximity to treatment facilities is critical to ensure patients receive their therapy on planned dates.

Pluvicto is designed to bind the Prostate Specific Membrane Antigen (PSMA)-expressing target cells and the energy emissions from the radioisotope damage the target cells and nearby cells, disrupting their ability to replicate and/or triggering cell death.

Under its pivotal phase 3 trial (VISION), the drug has demonstrated “38 per cent reduction in the risk of death and a meaningful improvement in progression-free survival compared to standard approaches in eligible patients.”

Amitabh Dube, Country President and MD Novartis India, said, “a large proportion of prostate cancer patients continue to be diagnosed only after the disease has progressed to a metastatic stage… With the launch of Pluvicto, we are bringing a globally recognized radioligand therapy platform at a time when the need for precision oncology solutions is increasing rapidly.”

Novartis onboarded Pluvicto under its $2.1 billion takeover of US-based Endocyte, who had licensed its clinical and commercial rights from Germany’s Advanced Biochemical Compounds (ABX) GmbH for up to $172 million along with the transfer of 2 million shares and additional rights to purchase 4 million shares.

The drug is manufactured and imported from the comoany’s Spain and Italy-based facilities. In January this year, it announced plans to establish a new plant in Winter Park, Florida, which is expected to become operational by 2029.

Amid the fading momentum of its heart failure blockbuster, Entresto and unwillingness to join the weight-loss frenzy, the Swiss giant is betting on its radioligand buyouts to power the next leg of growth, led by Pluvicto which racked up $1.9 billion in 2025 and is guided to clock over $5 billion at peak.

Besides , Pluvicto, Novartis markets another FDA-approved RLT product, Lutathera —lutetium (177Lu) oxodotreotide— for the treatment of gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NET).

Published On Jun 15, 2026 at 01:50 PM IST

Join the community of 2M+ industry professionals.
Subscribe to Newsletter to get latest insights & analysis in your inbox.

All about ETPharma industry right on your smartphone!

New Delhi: Swiss pharma major, Novartis has announced the commercial launch of its targeted radioligand therapy, Pluvicto (lutetium…

[127
206,31818,39442,43415,8514
post-85255","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-novartis","tag-novartis","tag-pluvicto","tag-prostate-cancer-treatment","tag-psma-positive-prostate-cancer","tag-radioligand-therapy
["GET
