Taking over a vacant multi-story office building designed by Diener & Diener<\/a> just minutes from Basel SBB<\/a> station, the project transforms a former workplace into a sprawling social and cultural experiment.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme, The Office, examines the changing nature of labor in an era defined by remote work, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. Rather than treating the office as a place of productivity, Basel Social Club reimagines it as a site for reflection, exchange, play, and collective experience. One of the most anticipated projects this year comes from Marina Abramovi\u0107 and her institute, MAI<\/a>. Housed inside a transformed former school bus, THE BUS functions as both mobile sculpture and meditation chamber.<\/p>\n

Participants enter in small groups for guided thirty-minute sessions focused on stillness, mindfulness, and slowing down. Nostalgia and participation collide in Brennan Wojtyla<\/a>\u2019s LAN, a fully functioning local area network installation featuring ten interconnected computers running the 2004 classic Counter-Strike: Source.<\/p>\n

For the first time, the beloved art publishing platform I Never Read, Art Book Fair<\/a> Basel joins Basel Social Club.<\/p>\n

Occupying its own section of the building, the fair brings together independent publishers, artists, zine makers, and experimental book projects from around the world. For many visitors, it will be one of the most rewarding places to discover emerging voices and take home something more intimate than a fair booth presentation.<\/p>\n

Among the week\u2019s most understated projects is HowAreYouToday?, a one-on-one conversation format led by a licensed psychologist.<\/p>\n

Visitors can drop in for sixteen minutes of listening, reflection, silence, or dialogue. Positioned between artwork and therapeutic encounter, the project offers something increasingly rare during major art events: genuine attention.
