Swiss experts will take part in repairing the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra (the Monastery of the Caves), a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was damaged in a Russian attack<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Details: “They will work on this together with our experts. I thank Switzerland for this initiative and support,” Zelenskyy said.<\/p>\n

He noted that all countries participating in the G7 summit<\/a> currently taking place in \u00c9vian-les-Bains, France, have condemned Russian strikes on civilian infrastructure, Ukrainians’ homes and the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra.<\/p>\n

Quote from Zelenskyy: “No one truly understands the logic of the leader of aggressive Russia. Everyone believes that the war must be stopped in any case. That is logical. Everyone believes that they do not see any desire on Russia’s side \u2013 first and foremost, Putin does not want it to end \u2013 but he must be forced, primarily through sanctions.”<\/p>\n

Details: Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said earlier that funding for repairs to Lavra’s Dormition Cathedral, also damaged in the Russian attack, will be allocated from the state treasury’s reserve fund.<\/p>\n

“The government will provide the necessary funding for repairs. A decision will be adopted today [15 June \u2013 ed.] on the urgent allocation of funds from the reserve fund to secure the damaged roof and subsequently repair it,” Svyrydenko said.<\/p>\n

A fire broke out at the site, covering about 800 sq m. A lot of water got into the cathedral whilst the fire was being put out. As soon as access to the building was restored, valuables began to be rescued<\/a> from the cathedral.<\/p>\n
