Sometimes the cure to boredom is realizing how boring being bored is.<\/p>\n
Local Geneva<\/a> children\u2019s author Ron Keres is debuting<\/a> his latest, \u201cThis Book is Boring!\u201d during a prerelease book signing.<\/p>\n Keres will tell the inspiration behind his next installment in the \u201cFinn the Frog\u201d collection from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Barnes & Noble in the Geneva Commons. The book is officially released nationwide July 7.<\/p>\n \u201cThis Book is Boring!\u201d is crafted to inspire children ages 3 to 7.<\/p>\n Keres said the story\u2019s humor, interactive spirit, and social-emotional lesson are designed to keep young minds engaged and it\u2019s perfect for bedtime reading, classroom read-alouds and fun family story time.<\/p>\n In the story, the amiable anthropomorphic amphibian is determined to cure his boredom \u2013 he tries sports, dancing, riddles, games \u2013 but to no avail. Through the eyes of Finn, each young reader is compelled to use creativity to end the eternal ennui.<\/p>\n \u201cI wrote this book for every parent who\u2019s heard their child say, \u2018I\u2019m bored,\u2019 despite having countless opportunities for fun right in front of them,\u201d Keres said. \u201cThe story encourages kids to use their imagination and creativity, showing that boredom often has less to do with what\u2019s available and more to do with how we choose to engage with the world around us.\u201d<\/p>\n Keres said the story has laugh-out-loud moments and encouraged reader participation, saying Finn\u2019s adventures deliver a \u201cgentle message that many parents will appreciate.\u201d<\/p>\n The author previously said he loves events like book signings because he gets to share his love of reading with the community and provide insight into the creative process. <\/p>\n During the appearance, Keres will read from the book, sign copies and meet families who may be longtime supporters of the series or first-timers.<\/p>\n All of Keres\u2019 books are illustrated by the \u201cwhimsical\u201d artist Arthur Lin from San Francisco.<\/p>\n Other books in the series following Finn\u2019s adventures include, \u201cThis Book Is Perfect!\u201d \u201cThis Book Is On Fire!\u201d \u201cThis Book Is A Mistake!\u201d \u201cThis Book Stinks!\u201d and \u201cThis Book Is Viral!\u201d Keres is also the author of \u201cThe Scariest Story You\u2019ve Ever Heard.\u201d <\/p>\n Keres also gives regular presentations at local area schools designed to inspire children to read, write and use their imaginations through his interactive author programs. <\/p>\n
