At 11:28 a.m. June 18, 2026, the New Bern Police Department received a ShotSpotter alert in the area of Raynor Drive in New Bern. When officers arrived, they located a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered medical aid until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to CarolinaEast Medical Center. The victim was later flown to ECU Health Medical Center for further treatment.<\/p>\n
The victim of today\u2019s shooting has been identified as William Cox, 29 years of age.<\/p>\n
The suspect has been identified as Nauzar Kyi Shaun Blount, 22 years of age. A warrant has been issued for Blount charging him with Attempted First-Degree Murder. Based on information gathered during the investigation, detectives believe this was a targeted incident involving individuals known to one another. <\/p>\n
