The risk of strong upward pressure thus persists,” the bank said.

Schlegel also said that if necessary, the SNB was increasingly willing to intervene in the foreign exchange market.

Harry Chambers, an economist at the London-based research group Capital Economics, said he thought the SNB would keep interest rates unchanged “over the next couple of years”.

The central bank’s attention “is firmly on the exchange rate”, he said.

noo/rjm/nl/js

The Swiss National Bank building in Bern (Fabrice COFFRINI) · Fabrice COFFRINI/AFP/AFP Switzerland’s central bank left interest rates…

[4
44898,2563,30809,14614,41,470,1364,17,44897
post-88610","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-switzerland","tag-central-bank","tag-interest-rates","tag-martin-schlegel","tag-snb","tag-swiss","tag-swiss-franc","tag-swiss-national-bank","tag-switzerland","tag-upward-pressure
["GET
