Switzerland\u2019s government on Monday formally backed a bid to host the Olympic and \u200bParalympic Winter Games in 2038<\/a> in a chance to bring the Games back to the country for the first time since 1948, according to Marleen Kaesebier of REUTERS. Switzerland is the frontrunner to \u200bhost the 2038 games and has been \u2060in \u201cwhat is known as privileged dialogue\u201d with \u200bthe IOC. The country has until the end \u200bof 2027 to ready its bid to the IOC without competition from others. The Swiss federal council said that \u200bconsultations on the 2038 plan were \u201cbroadly \u200bpositive and has approved submitting the plan,\u201d which includes federal \u200cfunding \u2060of up to $247M, to parliament, where it needs final approval (REUTERS, 6\/22<\/a>).<\/p>\n

TIME TO DECIDE: The AP reported the state of N.Y. is \u201cforming an exploratory committee to consider whether\u201d Lake Placid and N.Y. \u201cshould bid to co-host a future Winter Olympics<\/a>.\u201d The announcement Monday from N.Y. Gov.
