That will make the Games the first Winter Olympics to include competition in multiple countries. Figure skating, hockey, short track and curling were \u201coriginally planned to be in Nice\u201d at Allianz Riviera Stadium. The stadium was \u201cplanned to be covered,\u201d but French media reported in the spring that an \u201cagreement hadn\u2019t been reached.\u201d That led organizers to \u201cconsider other cities for ice sports, including Lyon and Paris.\u201d The original French Alps 2030 bid plan from 2023 did \u201cnot include a speed skating venue\u201d as France does not have a speed skating arena. The IOC board approved Thialf in the Netherlands \u201cpending completion of organizing committee discussions with venue owners.\u201d Alpine skiing at the 2030 French Alps Games will be \u201cshared by Courchevel and Val d\u2019Is\u00e8re,\u201d two annual stops on the World Cup circuit.
